Kayak Argentina

Diego picks us up in the Pura Vida mini van and scoots us out to Lago Guitiérrez, 20 minutes outside of Bariloche where we meet Bélen, our guide. In no time, we are suited up, handed paddles and pushed out onto the glacial lake in our Necky double kayak (a good old Canadian kayak at that!). It is a gorgeous fall day — sunny, very little wind. Even our guide is surprised at how tranquil and warm it is.

Our paddle is two hours long and gives us a chance to see the lake and surrounding mountains. We stop for a snack and tea on a small beach before returning. It feels a bit short to us — with weather like this we'd be out for much longer! Yet, it's still a great way to spend the afternoon and now we can officially add Argentina to our list of places where we've paddled.
