The New Yet To Be Named Van

It's another Toyota Hiace, just like our Scubby, but a slightly newer model and it's a manual transmission which takes a bit of adjustment after having an automatic for the past two and half a months. Plus the stick shift is on the left side. Only stalled it once so far... but I'm sure there are more panicked moments to come.

Out back, the configuration is different with the kitchen area up front and the seating/bedding/dining area in the back. It does create a little more room during the day, which is nice and when made up, the bed is wider and not as cramped.

But early reviews are favoring our old Scubby which had a decent sink (not a wimpy dentist sink and tap like this one), hot water when needed and much better storage. We do have a microwave oven in case we want to watch a movie and pop up some popcorn...

The extras touches and details that Andrew and Jenny from Cruzy supplied us are also missing — no BBQ, not as nice kitchen gear, and missing is a converter for charging up the iPad and the extensive maps and travel books.

Give us another week and it'll feel like home. But for now, we pine for our old Scubs.
